Successful SAP project implementation with Arla Foods
Moscow 2016, ALPE consulting, one of the leading companies on SAP implementations in Russia & CIS, and Arla Foods, a major Scandinavian supplier of dairy products and one of the strongest players in the international dairy arena, announced the successful completion of a SAP Implementation project based on SAP ECC 6.0 EHP7 with Arla Foods’ Russian branch.
The project was launched in February 2015 and by 1st October 2015 the SAP ERP system was put into pilot operation. Key users were supported until early December 2015.
The scope of the project envisaged deployment of standard modules such as Finance, Controlling, and Logistics (Inventory Management and Sales). On top of that the decision was made in the course of implementation to expand the scope of the project by adding WMS.
Per Blom, Finance Director of Arla Foods, is satisfied with the results of colaboration with ALPE consulting, “My congratulations and thanks to all those who contributed to this project! As always, I would like to express my gratitude for professionalism. The project team kept in mind all the specificities of our company’s logistics architecture. For instance, the system was integrated with 3PL warehouses of several operators, as well as our own Moscow warehouse managed by SAP WMS, which enabled automated planning, monitoring, and centralized control of all our warehouse operations”.
A unique feature of this project is that a Russian branch of a western company decided to introduce an independent SAP system based on SAP Best Practice®, instead of rolling out a prototype. Since the very beginning, the success was granted by strong partnership links between our companies. The professionalism and high expertise of both Arla Foods and ALPE consulting teams resulted in having the project completed right on time and within the budget,” said Volker Dunst, General Director of ALPE consulting.
The project envisaged minimal coordination with the parent SAP system at the level of master data and organizational structure, and full independence in terms of business-process implementation.
It was not an easy project. The biggest challenge was a large number of interfaces – working on them we had to interact with numerous third-party providers. Nevertheless, we did the job successfully,” said Stanislav Malyshev, Head of ALPE consulting St. Petersburg office.
As part of the project interfaces were developed to integrate SAP with the external SoftServe SalesWorks® Enterprise system, an enterprise solution for major trading and manufacturing companies, which is designed to automate accounting and analysis of distributors’ sales data. The ALPE consulting also helped Arla Foods to set up a E-Invoicing system to facilitate their electronic invoice exchange.
Dmitri Zvezdin, Head of the SAP project at Arla Foods Russian branch, is glad to have ALPE consulting as a provider of support services and hopes that the cooperation between the companies will continue.
